About Iain Farley Locksmiths
Born and raised in Kelso, I’ve always been part of this community. I started my working life as a joiner with M&J Ballantyne before taking a very different path — playing professional rugby. I was fortunate to earn Scotland caps in the 1999 5 Nations Championship and the 1999 Rugby World Cup, and I also represented Scotland on the World Series Sevens Circuit, including the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
After rugby, I returned to the trades with G & J Waddell before joining Openreach. Over more than a decade, I worked my way up from cabling and fibre splicing through to Clerk of Works, managing build teams and large-scale projects across the Borders.
Alongside all that, I’ve proudly served as a retained firefighter for the past 13 years — a role that means being there for the community when it matters most.
Whether it’s on the tools, in a team, or responding to a call-out, I’ve always believed in doing the job properly, staying grounded, and showing up for people.
That’s the same commitment I bring to every locksmith job in Kelso.

My history

My history in Rugby!
My Rugby History
Born and raised in Kelso, Iain’s roots run deep—both in the community and on the pitch. In 1999, he earned three full Scotland caps as a scrum-half, debuting in the Five Nations against Italy and later playing at the Rugby World Cup in Wales against Spain.
Iain then turned to rugby sevens in 2002, representing Scotland in tournaments across Singapore and Malaysia, and proudly wore the saltire at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
I’ll never forget the pride of representing Kelso, the Borders, and my country at the highest level in Rugby,
My Service as a Volunteer Fire Fighter
My life has always been about dedication and showing up—whether that's on the international rugby field, in the trades, or with the fire service.
Being a retained firefighter isn’t just a job — it’s a commitment to your neighbours. For more than 13 years, I’ve been part of Kelso’s on-call fire crew, ready to respond at a moment’s notice to fires, accidents, floods, and emergencies. It’s about teamwork, courage, and community spirit. The same values that drive me as a firefighter — reliability, precision, and putting people first — are the same values I bring to my work as a locksmith.
